Company History

In 1983, even in the midst of the then economic downturn, Constellation management, confident in its business model, set out to provide options for persons wanting to travel but who could not as a result of the prevailing economic conditions. Travel was on the decline and travel agencies were one of the first casualties. Every advice and analysis predicted an early demise for this new travel agency.

Constellation’s plan was simple. If people could no longer afford the luxury of holidaying in the US, Canada and Europe, supply a less costly and within their budget destination option. We chose Venezuela which was at the time, experiencing similar economic decline including a currency devaluation of over 200%.

Despite all the predicted demise, within six months and continuing for some ten years, Constellation was operating four charters, carrying over 500 passengers per week between Trinidad and Venezuela.

By the early 1990’s, Constellation had grown to four locations in Trinidad and had increased its staff compliment to over twenty-five. By the time that the economy started to improve, the company had built up sufficient resources and gained valuable experience that provided the foundation to expand its operations to the US and Canada.

Today, Constellation is firmly established in four countries: Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, United States, and Canada. The company operates weekly charter flights between Trinidad & Tobago and cities in the United States and Canada, and also between Guyana and these cities.

In 2008, Constellation will take its next bold step in launching its own airline company – Constellation West Indian Airways –. The establishment of this airline will allow the company to manage its own aircraft and provide a better cost structure for its entire operations.

The rapid growth of the Trinidad & Tobago economy will further avail Constellation of new opportunities. Already, there are plans for flights to Central and South America, and by 2009, the company plans to become only the second local airline to operate flights to the UK.
